Living in a small village near Kitchener-Waterloo, I have been surrounded by German culture my whole life. Oktoberfest, Old Order Mennonites - and wood fretwork, which seems to have originated in Germany, in the 1500s.
I began using the scroll saw in the 1990's and enjoy the concentration it takes, the precision. Working at it in my home, with a wood stove warming me in the cold months and a breeze from the patio door cooling me in summer I can get lost for hours in this art.
The craft relaxes and transports me into a different world, of curves, and angles and precision. I hope you enjoy the slide show!
